Active Uniform
Fri 13 Feb 2026Dear Parents and Carers,
Following recent feedback, the Governing Board would like to thank all families who took the time to share their views regarding the proposed changes to our school uniform. We value your feedback and appreciate the thoughtful points raised.
After careful consideration of all responses, the Governing Board has decided to continue with the planned changes to the school uniform. This decision reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting pupils’ health, wellbeing, and readiness for learning.
We also want to reassure families that parents are well represented on the Governing Board, with many of our governors being parents themselves. Their perspectives and contributions have played an important role in these discussions.
As a school, we have observed increasing levels of sedentary behaviour in children, particularly linked to higher screen time outside of school. In response, we believe it is more important than ever to ensure that pupils are dressed in clothing that enables them to move freely, be active throughout the school day, and participate comfortably in all aspects of school life.
The updated uniform aligns with the principles of the Active Uniform Alliance, a national movement encouraging schools to adopt uniforms designed for flexibility, comfort, and daily activity. You can find more information about the Alliance and its vision here:
https://activeuniform.org [activeuniform.org]This shift is not simply about clothing—it is about promoting healthy habits, improving focus and engagement in learning, and supporting children's physical and mental wellbeing. An “always-active” uniform enables pupils to take part in movement, play, and spontaneous physical activity without barriers.
Therefore, the school will continue with the transition period over the summer term of this academic year, with the following school uniform in place from September 2026.
- Red polo t-shirt
- Red sweatshirt
- Black leggings, tracksuit bottoms, shorts or skort
- Black socks
- Black trainers
We fully appreciate that changing uniform can create financial pressure for some families, and we remain committed to supporting any parents who may find the cost challenging. If you require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the school so we can help.
Thank you once again for your continued support of our school community.
Kind regards
Nicole Essex on behalf of the Governing Board

Netball Fixtures - Wednesday 12th February
Thu 13 Feb 2025Blue Team
This week, the Blue Team played two games, winning both!
7-2 vs Ashurst Wood
7-1 vs Halsford Park
The Meads defended very well in both games and played as a very composed team to convert their turn overs.
Green Team
Green team played Halsford Park and beat them 7-0. Our shooters made some fantastic shots whilst the defenders made great interceptions to make sure Halsford Park did not get onto the score sheet.
Red Team
The red team played three games and the confidence within the team grew as the games went on. Although red team did not get a win this week, they passed the ball well down the court and played with 100% determination to keep scoring goals.

D-Day Celebrations - 6th June
Wed 17 Apr 2024June 6th 2024 marks a very important date in history, the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. The 80 Beacons celebrations will be one of the largest events in the UK this summer. You can visit www.d-day80beacons.co.uk for more information.
We know pupils benefit from a hot meal at lunchtime and, as an industry, we know they impact so positively on so many lives – this is something to be celebrated. So, we have added this into our promotional calendar for 2024. There will be events being held all over the country: The lighting of beacons/Town Crier Proclamations/Parades/Fish and Chip days in restaurants and much more.
To support this event, we will simply swap the menu on Friday 7th with Thursday 6th so that we can also have Fish and Chip Day but with the additional children’s favourite: Chocolate Brownie.

Sports Hall Athletics Finals
Tue 12 Dec 2023On Thursday the 23rd of November our school represented in the finals along with St Peters, Harlands, Windmills and Holy trinity. Year 5/6 participated in the competition and did super well as a team and everyone was super supportive.
There were separate races for the girls and boys. There were also track events which were separate as well. Starting with the obstacle race we came 5th, for the 1+1 relay we came 1st, for the 2+2 relay we came 5th. Also, with the 6 lap we came 3rd, the over and under relay we were 4th and last but not least with the 4x4 relay we came 5th. However the girls still did amazing as well as the boys and their scores looked like this: First the starting race (obstacle relay) we came 4th, for the 1+1 relay we came 2nd, next we had 2+2 relay and we came 1st! Again on the 6 laps we came 1st! With the over and under relay we came 5th and for the last one 4x4 relay we came 1st. There were also field events which we did really well in but we don't know how we did. Overall everyone did amazing and anyone who participated should be really proud of themselves. It is an amazing achievement just to do it! There were other schools competing on different days as well and overall out of all the mid sussex schools we came 7th!!!! If your child would like to take part next year in the Sports Hall Athletics and will be in year 5/6 next year then they are more then welcome to try out!
This is an amazing achievement which (I should think you are very proud of) and of course what matters the most was great fun! Everyone was amazing and tried their best!
