Squirrels Class

14/02/22

We have started our new learning journey where we read the poem 'Beware' and learnt about the features needed for this style of poetry. We researched our class animal, the Squirrel, and wrote the following poem as a class:

Cheeky

There’s a……

Fast-runner

Tree-glider

Nut-finder

Teeth-grower

It’s a..…

Loner

Nest-protector

Winter-burier

Scratching-sneaker

Food-hunter

Hole-hider

Hiding, climbing

Up and down

They’re brown –

It’s a….. SQUIRREL!

Squirrel Poem - Cheeky

5/11/21

This week we have been reading and immersing ourselves in the text "Pattan's Pumpkin". In the story, Kanni sings to the animals in the pumpkin to calm them down (they are travelling through a flood in a pumpkin!). As a class we created a lullaby in the tune of 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and also wrote our lyrics to soothe the animals. We hope you enjoy listening!

This week in English we have been continuing to celebrate Black History Month and learn about inspirational figures. As a class we read, watched videos and even did a bit of role play for our learning which is all about Nicola Adams. We then used this information to create a class acrostic poem titled 'Nicola'. Please see below a picture of our poem and a recording of the class reading it. We had a lot of fun writing this and recording it for you all! We hope you enjoy it.
