At the Meads, our aim in English is to provide an engaging and high quality curriculum which fosters a love of reading, writing and discussion and equips children with the skills that they need to participate fully in their life now and to build the foundations that they need for learning in the future. The curriculum is centred around the school’s core values of ‘Challenge, Resilience, Ambition and Community,' and teaches all children to be independent, confident and competent in English. The use of high quality texts promotes a love of reading and depth of understanding which enables children to write for a range of purposes and audiences. Children learn to speak clearly, and to convey their ideas fluently, confidently and respectfully.
