The Meads Win the School Games GOLD Mark Award for 2025/26

We are delighted to announce that we, THE MEADS PRIMARY SCHOOL, have achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include:
The Netball A team finished 5th overall and 2nd in the Sackville cluster. The B team finished in 3rd place and the C team in 6th place.
The Football A team finished in 4th place, the B team finished in 4th place and Girls teams finished in 6th place.
We have also had children represent The Meads in a variety of sporting events, these were-
Rugby festival, netball festival, football finals, sportshall athletics, basketball competition, swimming gala, dance time, tennis festival, tri-golf, kwik cricket, cross country and area sports.
We have embedded a sports crew program for a group of year 5 children. These children received training at Sackville and they have run EYFS/KS1 sports day and a carousel of sports activities for these year groups too.

With a large number of young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

A special thanks to:
All the children who have participated, the teachers for supporting the children in practicing for these events, the PE leads for organising each event and giving the children these opportunities and the parents who have given up their time to come along and support the children.

We look forward to applying once again in 2027!
