School Closure Information
I hope my letter finds you and your families well.
I am writing to you following the announcement made this evening with regard to the closure of primary schools from tomorrow, Tuesday 5th January 2021.
As the school has been open for all pupils today, and had planned for all pupils to be in tomorrow, we are unfortunately going to have to close the school on Tuesday 5th January for all children, including those of keyworkers and those deemed vulnerable. This will enable the school to prepare to reopen with sufficient staffing and plans in place on Wednesday 6th January for vulnerable pupils and the children of keyworkers.
You are classed as a keyworker if you work in Health and Social Care; Education; Key public services; essential food production/distribution/delivery; Public Safety (i.e. Police); Transport (i.e. for supply chains); essential utilities, communication and financial services. Please see this link for the full definition - Critical workers and vulnerable children who can access schools or educational settings - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Please can I ask parents/carers who are classed as keyworkers to email the school at the following email address to let us know if you need to continue to send your child to school firstname.lastname@example.org by 2pm tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 5th January). Please can you include the following information in your email and give your email the title KEYWORKER:
- Name of child
- Year group and class name
- Role of parent/carer
- On which days you need childcare during normal school hours (8.50am-3.25pm)
From tomorrow morning, work will be placed on Google Classroom for all pupils, and teachers will begin daily morning meetings with their classes as in December’s closure from Wednesday 6th January, via Google Meet for Years 1-6, and Zoom for Reception.
I will write to our families tomorrow, after we have collated the numbers of keyworker children who will be attending school, with further information about the arrangements for Wednesday 6th January.
Thank you for your support and understanding with this.
