Welcome to Year 5/6!

 

                     Mrs Cremin, Mrs Bowen, Mrs Smith and Mr Mills

                                    welcome you to Year 5/6.

 

At The Meads we aim to be as accessible as possible.  Please feel free to pop in via the office if you have a quick question or query.  Alternatively you may make an appointment if you require a little more time to talk.

 

 

Year 6 will be going on residential from 3rd to 5h October.

 

The Meads Primary School Curriculum Plan    Autumn Terms                                                    

Literacy 

Maths Following the new National Curriculum, children will be taught Number, Measurement, Geometry & Statistics as individual units alongside the four operations in everyday contexts. Children will regularly apply their knowledge to maths investigations, giving them the opportunity to take risks with their understanding of mathematical concepts. Homework will be sent out on Monday and should be returned by the Friday of that week.

Science

 

Music –

Music lessons will …

In the second half of the term we will learn some traditional Victorian Christmas songs which we hope to perform at Mill View Care Home in December.

History

 

PE Topics this term include invasion games, attacking and defending, with specific reference to ball games, together with dance. 

Also we will be having a Rugby Coach from the East Grinstead Rugby Club. This half term Miss McAlpine’s  class will have them on a Thursday morning and next half term Miss Woodward’s class will have them on a Monday afternoon.

PSHE

Children will follow the SEAL scheme. This will be used alongside Circle Time to discuss topical and class issues as appropriate. We will also link this to the UNICEF A Better Life for Everyone ideas of children’s rights and responsibilities.

Art

A

French:

The children will continue to explore and develop their knowledge of French vocabulary through role play, speaking and listening and begin to use the written language.
